Project

Having worked in an industry that involved in a high level of mixed media and collage, both digital and traditional, it became a challenge to express my own personal style. Although I loved to create in way that would satisfy my client and industry needs, I also wish to express myself in ways that would broaden my artistic appeal. And also to create a piece that was not only visually appealing, it expressed something close to my heart...the memory of my father. My late father was a lover of classic orchestral leaders and Paul Mauriat in particular. The classic "cheesecake" album covers were a staple of my young eyes as well as the music itself.
My late father was a lover of classic orchestral leaders and Paul Mauriat in particular. The classic "cheesecake" album covers were a staple of my young eyes as well as the music itself. Interspersed throughout the piece are hints of my father's presence. I love to start with traditional media and finish digitally to perfect the composition and to also lend the ability to alter the design for the needs of the format in which it's produced. In order to honor my father, much of the piece is designed with ephemera that have a direct relation to my father. This includes the main subject, the album cover, which I had to hunt down a purchase second hand. The fact that it was distress and imperfect only helped inspire the final result. The final composition was perfected with the care of digital manipulation.
