Project
Throughout my life, I've struggled with anxiety and depression. I enrolled in a directed studies course with my professor, Linda Reynolds, wanting to create a design piece that focused on my struggles with anxiety and depression. I made this piece based on my own experience with anxiety. I still use the baby blanket I received at birth, and wanted to compare the qualities of a blanket to anxiety. Even though the blanket is used for comfort, both can be enveloping, smothering, and feel weighted. Typically I deal with anxiety by using my sense of humor, so I made sure to convey that through the language I used on the quilt. 80” x 53” duck canvas.
