Project
Drew Sutterfield55% of domestic minor sex trafficking survivors reported meeting their traffickers for the first time using text, a website, or social media. These tools have made it increasingly easy for traffickers to identify, meet, and access vulnerable children. The intended audience for this poster is anyone who uses social media or who has children who use it. The design problem was to create an eye-catching composition that was visually bold and unexpected in order to draw viewers in to learn more.
The poster communicates that sex trafficking isn’t a distant issue, it happens right here in our own cities, neighborhoods, and homes. Hierarchically, the word ‘here’ is the largest text in order to make viewers question why that word is relevant to the poster. Compositionally, the other elements work to draw your focus towards the center where the direct message icon is placed. The supporting type on the poster explains the connection between sex trafficking and social media linking all of the elements of the piece together.
