The problem was to fit an assortment of travel locations featured in the magazine article in one spot illustration map, without making the spread feel too busy with all of the other necessary design and text elements.
The solution was to illustrate in a mono-chromatic line art style. The single color, and cohesive design made many details and icons feel more unified as one illustration.
